dk2 aims to make this website a resource which can be used by organisations with a commitment to achieving work life balance for their employees.

This section of the website provides a forum for posting case studies of successful examples where a balance has been found between the work of an individual and their life beyond work.

The names and specifics of each case have been changed to protect the privacy of the individuals. However, each study is real and gives us a different and valuable insight into the strategies we can employ in our own workplace and some of the obstacles which can hinder the effective implementation of work life policies.

1. Jane - a manager in a government department
37 years old, with two young children, Jane is a manager of 10 staff within a government department. Keen to show that telecommuting or any form of flexible work arrangement - provided it was managed transparently and proactively - could still work in a management context, Jane is a testament that successful implementation of such a program provides other staff with an effective model on which to base their own working arrangements (this applies to both the managers who agree to the arrangements as well as any staff who undertake them).
